Savory cookie for kids tifin box



Savory cookie is made of whole wheat flour and bengal gram flour. This is not a sweet cookie. This is very good for your health as well as kids health. It is a wonderful tea time snack and a kids snacks box idea

Ingredients:

  • Whole wheat flour (1/2 cup)
  • Bengal gram flour (1/2 cup
  • Salt (1/2 tsp)
  • Turmeric powder (1/4 tsp)
  • Cumin seeds (1/2 tsp)
  • Asafoetida powder(1/4 tsp)
  • Butter (1 tbsp)
  • Water to make a soft dough

Method:

  • In a mixing bowl, add whole wheat flour, bengal gram flour, salt, turmeric cumin seeds,
    asaofetida powder, butter and mix well.
  • Add little by little water to make a soft dough.
  • On a wooden surface, dust some whole wheat flour, and coat the dough.Flatten it with a rolling pin.
  • Use your or your kid’s favourite cookie cutter shape to shape it into different size. If you do
    not have a cookie cutter, you can use a small lid of a tin to give a round shape.
  • Place the shape on a greased baking tray.Bake it at 180 Degree Celcius in a pre heated
    oven for 10 minutes.
  • Remove it from the oven and bring it to room temperature.

Crunchy and healthy savory cookie is now ready to be served as a tea time snack or for kids
tiffin. Enjoy!

Whole wheat oats cookies


 

Whole wheat cookie is made of whole wheat, oats, milk & butter is a recipe made specially for kids and toddlers as I make them for my daughter.

Ingredients:

  • Whole wheat flour (1/2 cup)
  • Oats (1/2 cup)
  • Powdered sugar(1/2 cup)
  • Cardamom powder (of 3 cardamom)
  • Butter(1/4 cup)
  • Milk(3 tbsp or enough to form a smooth dough)

Method:

  1. In a bowl, add whole wheat flour, rolled oats, powdered sugar, cardamom powder to enhance the flavour of the cookie.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients and add quarter cup of ghee or clarified butter. You can add unsalted butter if you want to replace clarified butter to it as well.
  3. Mix the ingredients till it forms a crumbly texture.
  4. Add 3 table spoon of milk or enough to form a smooth dough.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls and roll out into one centimeter thick disks.
  6. Cut the dough with cookie cutter and give it a shape.
  7. Do the same with rest of the dough and place it on a baking tray.
  8. Pre heat the oven to 180 degree celcius and place the tray in the oven.
  9. Bake for 10 minutes at 180 degree or till the edges turn golden brown.

Remove from the oven and cool. Enjoy this healthy wholesome cookie with a warm glass of milk.

Jam tarts


These jam tarts are very simple to make and a perfect delight for Christmas. It is a wonderful dish which can be made very easily.




Ingredients:

  • All purpose flour (2 cups)
  • Unsalted butter(100 gms, chopped)
  • Icing sugar (3 tbsp)
  • Egg yolk(of 1 egg)
  • Fruit jam/jam of your choice

Method:

  1. In a bowl add all purpose flour, unsalted butter and icing sugar. Mix it lightly and then add eggyolk to make a dough. In case it does not form a dough add of water(1 tbsp) and mix lightly.
  2. Wrap the dough in cling film and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes till the butter becomes firm again.
  3. Take the dough out and roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Add some all purpose flour to ensure that the dough does not stick on the board or surface.
  4. Cut the dough with a cookie cutter and place it in a muffin tray. Once the pastry is placed in the tray, prick it with a fork and add your favourite jam(1 & 1/2 tsp per tart). I am adding a mix fruit jam but you can add any jam of your choice. Decorate it with strips cut of the dough and bake it in a pre-heated oven at 200 degree celcius for about 15 minutes. Take it out of the oven once the pastry gets a nice golden brown colour.

Easy jam tart is now ready to be served. Enjoy!

Finger millet & honey cookies (Ragi cookies)


Finger millet & honey cookies (Ragi cookies), Finger millet rich in iron and calcium, honey great for your health and helps lose weight.


Ingredients:

  • Finger millet/Ragi (1 cup, powdered)
  • Honey (1/4 cup)
  • Milk (3 tbsp)

Method:

  1. Pre-heat over at 180 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, add finger millet/ragi, honey and mix well.
  3. Add milk and knead to form a dough.
  4. Make small balls of the dough and press between the palms to form a cookie shape.
  5. You can also use a rolling pin and cookie cutter to make shapes.
  6. Bake it in the pre-heated oven for 10 minutes at 180 degree Celsius.

Delicious and nutritious Finger millet & honey cookies are now ready. Enjoy it with a glass of warm milk.

  • Milk (2 tbsp)

  1. Pre-heat the oven at 180 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, add oats, honey, milk and mix well to form a stiff dough.
  3. Take a portion of the dough an make balls of it.
  4. With the help of rolling pin, flatten it gently.
  5. With a cookie cutter or a knife, give it a shape.
  6. Grease a bake tray and place these cookies over it.
  7. Bake it in the pre-heated over of 180 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.

Oats and honey cookies are ready. Enjoy!

Milk & Butter cookies


Milk & Butter cookies, very tasty and simple to make cookies.


Ingredients:

  • Refined flour/Maida (1 cup)
  • Sugar (1/2 cup, powdered)
  • Cardamom powder of 4 pods or Vanilla essence (1/2 tsp)
  • Butter (1/2 cup, melted)
  • Milk (2 tbsp)

Method:

  1. Pre-heat oven for 10 minutes at 180 degree Celsius.
  2. In a bowl, add Refined flour/Maida, sugar, cardamom powder or Vanilla essence and mix them together.
  3. Add butter, milk and mix well to form a stiff dough.
  4. Give it a cookie shape of your choice or with a rolling pin.
  5. Grease a baking tray and place these cookies over it.
  6. Bake it in the pre-heated oven for 11 minutes at 180 degree Celsius.
  7. Once done, cool it at room temperature for 15 minutes.

Enjoy Milk & Butter cookies with a cup of tea.

Whole wheat milk cookie



Whole wheat milk cookie is a wonderful breakfast and can be served with a glass of milk or tea. It is easy and quick to make.


Ingredients:

  • Whole wheat flour (1 cup)
  • Powdered sugar(1/2 cup)
  • Cardamom pods(4, powdered)
  • Butter(1/2 cup, softened)
  • Milk (1/3 cup)

Method:

  1. Pre-heat oven at 180 degree Celicus for 10 minutes.
  2. Sift wheat flour in a bowl.
  3. Add powdered sugar and cardamom into it and mix these dry ingredients.
  4. Add the melted butter and mix well.
  5. Add milk and mix well till a soft dough is formed.
  6. Take small lime size dough, make balls of it and press it in between your palms to form a cookie shape. (You can also use a rolling pin and cookie cutter to give it a cookie shape)
  7. Grease a baking tray and place the cookies on it leaving space in between each cookie.
  8. Bake the cookies at 180 degree Celsius for 15 minutes in a pre-heated oven.
  9. Take out the cookies and allow it to cool for 15 minutes in room temperature.

Serve tasty cookies with a glass of milk or a cup of tea. Enjoy!
