Microwave chicken biriyani

Microwave chicken biriyani very quick and easy to make chicken biriyani in very less time using a microwave


Ingredients: (for 1 portion)

  • Long grain rice or Basmati rice (1/2 cup)
  • Dried red chilly(1, de-seeded)
  • Onion (1, chopped)
  • Garlic (2 cloves)
  • Cumin seeds (1/2 tsp)
  • Fennel seeds (1 tsp)
  • Cinnamon stick (1/2 inch)
  • Green cardamom (2 along with the skin)
  • Cloves(2)
  • Pepper corn(4)
  • Salt(1 tsp)
  • Water(1 tbsp)
  • Oil(1 & 1/2 tbsp)
  • Turmeric powder(1/2 tsp)


  1. Soak the rice in water for half an hour and keep it aside.
  2. For the spice paste, in a mixer jar, add the dried red chilly, onion, garlic, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, cinnamon stick, green cardamom, cloves, peppercorn, salt(1/2 tsp), water and oil. Grind it to make a smooth paste.
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, add the chicken and the spice paste and mix it well.
  4. Cover it with a lid and microwave it for 3 minutes on high power.
  5. Remove the lid and add the turmeric powder and salt(1/2 tsp)
  6. Add the soaked rice along with the water and mix well.
  7. Cover it with a lid and microwave on high powder for 13 minutes.

Once done, separate it with a fork and serve hot. Enjoy!

Paneer tawa masala

Paneer tawa masala is a delicious recipe that goes very well with chapati, roti or nan. It is made of Makhni gravy and takes very less time to make.


  • Ghee (1 tbsp)
  • Carom seeds(a pinch)
  • Onion (2, chopped)
  • Salt (1/2 tsp)
  • Ginger paste (1 tsp)
  • Green chilli (1, chopped)
  • Chilli powder (1/2 tsp)
  • Coriander powder (1 tsp)
  • Paneer/Indian cottage cheese (150 gms, diced)
  • Makhni Gravy (1 cup)
  • Garam masala (a pinch)
  • Coriander leaves (few,chopped)


  1. To make paneer tava masala, heat a pan, add ghee or clarified butter.
  2. Once it melts, add a pinch of carom seed & allow it to crackle.
  3. Once the carom seeds starts to crackle, add chopped onion and saute well.
  4. Add salt and saute again in slow flame till it turns light golden brown in color.
  5. Once the onion starts to turn golden brown, add ginger paste, chopped green chilli & saute it for couple of minutes.
  6. After couple of minutes, add chilli powder, coriander powder and saute again so that the spices mixes well with the onion.
  7. Once the aroma of coriander spreads, add the diced paneer into the mixture and mix well.
  8. Add makhni gravy and cook till the makni gravy starts to coat the paneer.
  9. Once the gravy becomes thick, switch off the flame.
  10. Sprinke garamasala, chopped coriander leaves and mix them well.

Our paneer tawa masala is now ready. Serve it along with Roti, chapati or nan. Enjoy!

How to make Peas pulao

Peas pulao or Mattar pulao is a vegetarian rice preparation with added peas, whole garam masalas and saffron. It is a delicious preparation and easy to cook.


  • Basmati rice/long grain rice (1/2 cup)
  • Saffron (a pinch)
  • Green peas (1/2 cup)
  • Cloves (2)
  • Green Cardamom (4, pealed along with the skin)
  • Black cardamom (2)
  • Bay leaf(1)
  • Cinamon stick (1 inch)
  • Salt (1 tsp),
  • Lime juice (1 tsp)
  • Ghee (1 tsp)
  • Onion (1, chopped)
  • Ginger (1 tsp)
  • Garlic (1 tsp)


  1. In a bowl, add long grain rice or basmati rice, water, wash it and soak it in water for 15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, add a large pinch of saffron.
  3. To it add 1 tbsp of water and soak it for 15 minutes.
  4. Boil 1 liter water in a heavy bottom pan.
  5. Add green peas and blanch them or boil it till the peas are half cooked.
  6. Once the peas are half cooked, switch off the flame and drain away the water.
  7. After draining off the water, keep the peas in a seprate bowl and get the rice ready.
  8. For the rice, boil some water in a heavy bottom pan. To it add cloves,green cardamom peal and along with the skin, black cardamom,bay leaf, cinamon stick,1 tsp salt, lime juice, add the soaked rice after draining away the water and boil till the rice are cooked.
  9. While the rice is getting cooked, make the preparation for peas.
  10. Heat another pan, add ghee,onion and saute till the onion turns translucent.
  11. Ohe onion turns translucent, add add garlic paste, ginger paste, and saute well.
  12. Saute till the onion starts to turn light golden brown in color.
  13. The delicious flavor of ginger and garlic will start to spread. Keep sauteing till the onion changes color to light golden brown.
  14. Once the onion turns light golden brown, add the half cooked green peas, salt as per taste & saute for 2 minutes or till the green peas are cooked well and nice.
  15. Once the rice has cooked , drain away the water.
  16. After draining away the water, the whole garam masala and cooked rice will be left in the strainer. keep it aside.
  17. After 3 to 4 minutes, the peas will be cooked. Switch off the flame and keep it aside.
  18. Now, heat a heavy bottom pan. You can use the same pan that was used to cook the rice.
  19. Into the pan, add the green peas as the first layer.
  20. Now layer the second layer with cooked rice.
  21. Pour the saffron water and the soaked saffron over the rice layer.
  22. Mix them all gently in a very slow flame for 1 minute.
  23. Switch off the flame.

Peas pulao is now ready to be served. Serve it hot with Mango raita. Enjoy!

Veg Khichdi recipe

This veg khichdi is loaded with lots of veggies, rice & lentil. It is a perfect food for the toddlers as well as elders. An easy to digest meal and an easy to prepare recipe as well.

This is a staple dish in some cuisines and enjoyed as a comfort food in India



  • Rice (1/2 cup)
  • Moong daal (1/2 cup, broken)
  • Carrots(1/4 cup)
  • Curry leaves(few)
  • Cauliflower florets(1/4 cup)
  • Green peas (1/4 cup)
  • Salt (1 tsp or as per taste)


  1. In a pan add a cup of water and bring it to boil. Add washed and drained rice, moong daal/ lentils. Add 1 cup of water, diced carrot. cauliflower florets, green peas, turmeric powder, 1 tsp of salt or as per your taste, few curry leaves.
  2. Mix it well and bring it to a boil.
  3. Once it comes to boil add 1/2 cup of water and mix it well.
  4. Close it with the lid, reduce the flame to simmer and allow it to cook. Stir it ocassaionally in between.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of water little by little till the rice and vegetables are cooked well.
  6. Once the rice is cooked & becomes soft & the water will be evaporated, switch off the flame.

Vegetable khichidi is now ready to be served. Serve it warm along with some accompaniment like papad or pickle.

Ari pathiri recipe

Patiri is a traditional flat bread made in Kerala



  • Roasted rice flour (2 cups)
  • Salt (1/2 tsp)
  • Water (3 cups)



  1. In a pan, add water,and bring it to a boil. Once the water starts to boil, add roasted rice flour into the hot water and mix well.Switch off the flame, mix well & allow the mixture to cool.
  2. Once the dough becomes cool enough to handle, transfer it to a mixing bowl and knead it well with your hands till the mixture develops slight shine.
  3. Once the dough is ready, divide it into small lemon size balls.
  4. Roll the dough out on a flat wooden surface. Dust some rice flour so that the dough does not stick while rolling. Take the dough ball and flatten it into 6 inch discs.
  5. Heat the griddle and cook the bread on both sides. Make sure that the colour remains white. Cook it till it is done and remove the patri out of the griddle.

Enjoy this patri with some kerala chicken curry or fish curry.

This bread can also be enjoyed by people who are allergic to gluten as it is only made with rice.

Shezwan fried rice recipe

Indo – Chinese recipe, Shezwan fried rice is a vegetarian preparation and is a famous Indian street food.



  1. Heat oil in a wok, add garlic cloves, capsicum, cabbage and saute on high flame.
  2. Add Shezwan sauce/Red chilly sauce and saute.
  3. Add long boiled rice and saute so that the vegetables and sauce mixes well.
  4. Add sugar & salt, mix again.

Roasted Pumpkin & Beetroot salad

Care for some healthy food today? Here is a delicious way to reduce fat and sooth the stomach from those fried food.

Healthy and delicious Roasted Pumpkin & Beetroot salad.


  • Beetroot (3, cut into wedges)
  • Pumpkin (250 gms, skin pealed and cut)
  • Salt (2 pinch)
  • Olive oil (1 tbsp)
  • Garlic cloves(4)
  • Honey ( to drizzle)


  1. In a bowl, add pumpkin, beetroot, salt, olive oil and mix them
  2. Pre-heat the oven at 200 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
  3. Grease a bake tray, add these vegetables and spread them on the tray.
  4. Roast them in a pre-heated oven for 15 minutes at 200 degree Celsius.
  5. Take out the vegetables and drizzle honey all over the vegetables.
  6. Pop it back in the oven and roast is for 5 minutes.
  7. Take out of the oven and mix the vegetables so that the honey and other ingredients mixes well with the vegetables.
